In addition to the "high" domestic cotton prices, spinning basically has no profit or even a slight loss. Therefore, most enterprises hold a wait and see attitude. Some cotton mills and cloth mills said that the biggest obstacle at present is not the transaction price, not to mention the product quality, but the downstream demanders do not inquire, purchase, start up, and have no sales support. They have no idea how to go about the market.

At present, most cotton textile enterprises' raw material inventory is concentrated in 7-20 days, and a few large and medium-sized manufacturers' raw material inventory is in 1-2 months. Some textile enterprises delayed the cotton procurement period because they got the cotton import quota within 1% tariff in late February. On the one hand, there were many American cotton, Indian cotton, West African cotton, Brazilian cotton, Central Asian cotton and other cotton arriving in Hong Kong in March and April, so buyers had more choices; On the other hand, textile enterprises are expected to increase sliding tariffs or significantly reduce the import quota of cotton for processing trade in 2015. Based on the principle of "good steel is used for cutting edge", the purchase focus of imported cotton is SM Grade and above American cotton and Australian cotton, but at present American cotton arriving in Hong Kong mainly comes from contract cotton and foreign businesses, and the quotation of American cotton and Australian cotton is much higher than that of West African cotton, Central Asian cotton and lint cotton from other origins, so the cost performance ratio is not high.

From the perspective of time, the production of grey cloth and clothing will enter an active period in March and April, and the order receiving situation of cotton textile mills will gradually improve. Whether small and medium-sized cotton mills and middlemen can obtain and seize the opportunity to start production is the key to the reversal of cotton prices. Xinjiang and inland cotton enterprises are generally optimistic about the cotton market after March.
